Originally 145906 of the US Navy, then N8064A. Bought by H&P in 1989 from the stock of an emerging warbird museum in Georgia. Registered as N139HP and stored at Greybull in US Navy markings, then tanked as "139". Sold in 2006 to Neptune Aviation Services, Missoula, Montana and re-registered as N443MA, tanker"43".

Built for the US Navy as 145906 in 1958. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB with park code 1P383 in 1975. Sold as N8064A in 1989 then to Hawkins and Powers Aviation as N139HP in 1990 and converted to a fire bomber. To Neptune Aviation as N443NA in 2006 then to the San Diego Air and Space Museum, Gillespie Field, CA in 2018. Cancelled from the register in 2020.

Tanker 139 together with N140HP/140 (cn 7102). These beauties could not have looked better when H&P started operating them in 1990 after overhaul and modifications. Since their contract had been cancelled in May 2004 they were waiting for another smoky start-up. For that, their remaining service life had to be established, a tough and costly operation. Nevertheless, it was successfully completed for this airframe that flew on as Tanker 43, N443NA. [Velvia 50, DiMage Scan]

Two immaculate Neptunes in eye-catching colors at the Greybull museum. Tanker 139 retained the long tail cone that used to house the MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detection) sensors while Tanker 140 received a short version.
