Delivered to Braniff in May, 1969 and later operated by Arrow Air, Surinam Airways, Tropical Airways and then Surinam again. It crashed on June 7, 1989 on approach to Paramaribo-Zanderij, Suriname killing 176 of the 187 on board.

Delivered new to Braniff 17th Nov 1969 and returned to McDonnell-Douglas Nov 1981. Sold to International Air Leases June 1983 and leased to Arrow Air 21st Dec 1983, then to Surinam Airways 6th Jan 1984. Sadly it crashed on approach to Paramaribo 7th June 1989

Note the tail logo which is the national flower of Surinam (faja lobi / Ixora Coccinea). Ex Braniff, crashed on approach to Paramaribo, Surinam, 7 Jun 89. The flight was inbound from Amsterdam and among the 176 passengers killed were 15 Surinamese soccer players who played professionally in the Dutch and Belgian leagues. Eleven passengers survived including three players.

This DC-8 met a tragic end in 1989 when it was destroyed in a crash on final approach to Paramaribo in fog, with many fatalities.

This aircraft only wore Arrow Air titles for a few months and it was already leased to Surinam Airways when this picture was taken. It flew for Surninam Airways until it crashed at Paramaribo on June 7, 1989.
