This Widgeon was owned by the J. Ray McDermott Co. of Harvey, LA. in 1969. It had been modified with Continental O-470 engines in 1955. The McDermott Co. used Widgeons for supporting oil rigs along the coastal inland areas of the Louisiana coast. When most of the drilling moved offshore out into the Gulf of Mexico McDermott sold the Widgeons.

Here still carrying the registration it wore ex-factory in 1945 and current as such in 2021. Portable concrete blocks like the ones it is tied to are fine for an ultralight, but this wing can lift 4500 lbs. In a high wind they'd be dragged around and could actually cause damage.
