Delivered to Western Air Lines as N91310 in 1954. To Los Angeles Dodgers as N1R then reregistered as N180R in 1961. To Taxader Colombia as HK-1029 in 1963. Sold as N12810 then to Spantax as EC-BBK and converted to a swingtail freighter in 1965. To Zantop International Airlines as N434TA in 1975 then to Northern Air Cargo in 1987. Stored at Fairbanks, AK by 2005. Flown to Hay River, NT, Canada for Buffalo Airways in 2013 and stored there.

The famous sole surviving swingtail DC-6, bought by Buffalo in 2013 as a Bank of Utah trustee in order to keep the US registration. She seems to never have flown since arriving here and even still be sitting in the same spot in 2020.

I was a little disappointed to find this one in the maintenance hangar as I would have liked a better photo of it. The reason was that I had flown LPA-ACE-LPA on it in Feb 1973 when it was EC-BBK with Spantax (with swing tail but in passenger configuration).

Now over 50 years old this classic Dc6 is still flying from Fairbanks.

Stored for many years at the Northern Air Cargo freight terminal at Fairbanks International Airport, this aircraft was sold to Buffalo Airways, made airworthy in 2013 and ferried to Hay River by way of Yellowknife, NWT. The aircraft has a swing tail and hasn't flown since arriving at Hay River.

NAC's last DC-6 still sits behind their cargo facility at Fairbanks International Airport. Most of the remaining fleet has been sold to Everts but rumor has it NAC won't sell this aircraft because of its unique swingtail conversion.
