Built in 1970 as N9896 for Delta Airlines and later registered as N8769V, N40108 (China Airlines), B-1868 (China Airlines) and N902PA (Pan American). Converted to a freighter and purchased by Evergreen in 1991. Withdrawn from service in 2009 and placed on top of the Wings and Waves Waterpark adjacent to the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum at KMMV in August 2010

On an emegency diversion into Heathrow due to engine problems. It was carrying hazardous cargo for the US military. Delivered to Delta as N9896 in 1970. To Boeing in 1974 then to China Airlines as N40108 then B-1868 in 1976. To Pan Am as N902PA in 1978. Fitted with a Side Cargo Door in 1986. To Evergreen International as N481EV in 1991 and converted to a freighter. Preserved at McMinnville, OR from 2010.

There are certain now-rare airliners such as the TriStar, DC-10, 737-200, etc., which I'm always happy to catch. It may be the last time that I get the chance to photograph one flying and the 747-100 definitely falls into that category! Note the early upper deck window config and the P&W powerplants.
