Acquired by Hughes Aircraft as N440DS in 1989 and re registered. Operated as an Airborne Infrared Measurement System testbed on behalf of the US Department of Defense. Delivered new in 1965 to Ethiopian Airlines as ET-ABP "Queen of Sheba". Involved in an attempted terrorist in-flight hijacking in December 1972, when a grenade was was detonated in the rear cabin and seven hijackers were shot dead by onboard security. Despite damaged controls, the pilot made a successful emergency landing at Addis Ababa.
