An unlucky aircraft. Made is first flight in NZ in January 1929 at a time when it did not need to be registered. Damaged when it hit a cow. After repairs a friend of the owner decided to singe off loose threads in the fabric and set the plane alight. New wings and fuselage acquired and in January 1930 the Monocoupe was registered ZK-ABD. Three months later it suffered a fatal crash. Another rebuild followed. In 1938 a broken crankshaft saw it grounded and stored. It remained stored until destroyed in a October 1953 hangar fire.
