Exported from the USA to Australia in 1967 becoming the first air ambulance operated by the NSW Department of Health, accumulating 24,500 flight hours across nearly 4m miles by the time of retirement in 1985

VH-AMB was retired to the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. It was the first air ambulance owned the NSW ambulance service. It was used to transport patients from rural areas to Sydney for specialist treatment.

What happens when an oxygen bottle catches fire in a baggage locker. The fire occurred at Sydney airport where the Queen Air was based. The oxygen bottle was part of the medical equipment on the ambulance aircraft. The wings were removed and VH-AMB was trucked across Sydney to Hawker Pacific at Bankstown for repair. It would fly on to 1985 and is now preserved at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. It amassed 24,500 hours, flew more than 3,800,000 miles and carried 32,000 patients in its career.
