(By this time I had a car so no more freezing while waiting at bus stops and railway stations. Also I had time on the same day to visit London/Gatwick plus Leavesden and Elstree aerodromes to see other air race participants.)

RAAF aircraft WW2 as A17-151 then to VH-AXF in 1946, VH-BXF in 1949, VH-BWF in 1951 before VH-UEF in 1957. WFU in 2004 before restoration in 2012.

There were no fences to keep people out as the air race competitors arrived at Bankstown and even small children wandered freely among the aircraft. No one seemed perturbed and everyone went home intact. VH-UEF was not to see the year out when it plunged into the ground near Ballarat, Victoria, on October 31.
