Seychelles International Airport. Taken with my camera by my late father Barry Taylor when on a tour of the Middle East and Indian Ocean by RAF C-130K Hercules C1 XV219. My father was a passenger on this trip. Built in the USA and assigned serial 66-8569 which was never carried. Delivered new to the RAF as XV219 on 09 Dec 1967. Later converted to a C3. Transferred to Lockheed on 26 Nov 2000 and scrapped.

Eagerly awaited by the population local to the Salisbury Plain Training Area was the annual firepower demonstration at Larkhill which is situated on the eastern edge of the SPTA. Just about every type of weapon was unleashed on the range targets. Even an "Honest John" missile was fired off on at least one occasion(1962) XV219 is demonstrating an Ultra Low Level Airdrop(ULLA) on an unusually damp day. The extraction chutes are out of the picture. View looking north with a couple of 'Tank' targets visible in the background. It was delivered to Lockheed in December 2000 and scrapped.

This aircraft was one of 28 C-130's stored at Sussex County Airport (GED) in Georgetown, Delaware. Seven were former Royal Australian Air Force and 21 former Royal Air Force. I believe they were all taken in trade by Lockheed for C-130J aircraft. Most, if not all, of the RAF aircraft were scrapped at the airport and I believe most, if not all, of the RAAF were sold and departed the field. The aircraft were parked on a disused runway that had a track installed for ejection seat testing in the 1950s and later used to store retired United Airlines Viscounts.

Delivered to the RAF as a C.1 and later lengthened to C.3 standard. Operated by the RAF Lyneham Transport Wing.

Ex 66-8569 (FMS). Returned to Lockheed on 26-11-00, and later scrapped.

There was big RAF presence in Calgary this day. XV219 originally flew with test serial 66-8569 before being delivered in December 1967 as a Hercules C.1. Later stretched to C.3 standard and finally returned to Lockheed November 26, 2000. It was scrapped in 2003.
