Z7258 and Z7261 Women of Britain, 'the day before they were presented to No 24 Sqn RAF by the Silver Thimble Fund.' Elsewhere we found that the date of the ceremony was 21 May 1941. Ex G-AFMH and G-AFMJ of Airwork, these Rapides were already used to for military training before they were impressed in July 1940. They were only used as ambulances briefly in 1941. Z7258 scrapped in 1945. Rapide G-AHGD (c/n 6862) was painted as Z7258 in 1980, but lost in a crash in 1991. Photo by: F W Crouch / Imperial War Museums
