Originally USN P-3A BuNo 151361, civilianised by Aero Union in 1989 but stored at Chico for most of the time since

US Navy P-3A bu 150510 was transferred to the Spanish Air Force . On return, it was sold to Hawkins & Powers in 1996 for parts. Aero Union bought the aircraft in 2004 and converted it to a P-3 Aerostar. With Aero Union's bankruptcy in 2011, it was stored at Chico and since acquired by United Aeronautical Corp when they purchased the MAFFS 2 fire fighting system.

US Navy bu 151369 was retired to MASDC in August 1984. It was among several Orions acquired by Aero Union and converted to aerial tankers. After Aero Union's bankruptcy, United Aeronautical Corp purchased the MAFFS 2 (Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System) patent in 2015 and acquired Aero Unios's P-3s in the deal.

US Navy 151361 was retired to MASDC Jul 11, 1984. Sold to to Aero Union Corp as N183AU, later N925AU, which was converted to an air tanker that entered service in 1990. Aero Union shut down in 2011 after the US Forest Service cancelled their contract in July. United Aeronautical Corp eventually bought five of Aero Union's Orions, including this one and moved them to back to Chico to put them up for sale.
