This Bird Dog was built to a 1950 order and accepted by USAF in 1951. It was transferred to the US Army that year and based in Europe. At some point, probably in the late 1960s or early 1970s the aircraft was transferred to the Royal Thai Army as 1709. Around 1990 it was recovered from Thailand by Col Pay and exported to Australia. It was registered VH-LPH on 10 April 1991. The aircraft has been re-painted into Thai Army (Air Force) markings with its cn as a fake serial. The name 'nu' means 'mouse', or perhaps 'petite little thing'.
