The eye-catching colours are those of the 33rd FG, Walker AFB, NM, with which this F-84C flew in 1948.Transferred to 3600th CCTW in 1952

August 1953 and kids are allowed to climb on this F-84C. The Boston Daily Globe of 8 August 1953 does not confirm there was an airshow, but does carry an article on the 102nd Fighter Interceptor Wing of the Massachusetts ANG, with a photo showing probably the same F-84. The unit had been 'stripped of jets' three years earlier, because these 'early model jets were lacking in performance' and 'difficult to service, too'. Two F-84Cs of 58 FS, 33 FIG from Otis AFB, on delivery to the Kansas ANG in Wichita, ran out of fuel near Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Pilot Donald Lynch in 47-1526 tried to land on a straight stretch of Route 218 near Spraggs. He departed the road to avoid a car, clipped off six telephone poles and came to a stop against a sycamore tree. John Ostler in 47-1524 came down in farmer Carl Hoy's field. Circa 1955 this old Thunderjet was donated to a school in Glendale, CA, as an instructional airframe, and officially registered to the Glendale Unified School District as N2884D. It was still on the register as such by 1964, but had been cancelled by 1975. The aircraft arrived at the March Field Air Museum in 1982.

This F-84C was delivered to the USAAF during Dec. 48 and served until being SOC in Nov. 1953. She then went to Glendale as an instructional airframe for 27 years before being donated to the March Field Air Museum in 1982. The port side has 'Manny's Menace' nose art.
