PH-TAT was the first DC-4-1009 delivered to KLM in March 1946. It is in a livery only worn by it and PH-TAP, with large orange Royal Dutch Airlines titles. Andir airfield at Bandoeng (Bandung) was the terminus of KLM's Holland-Java route. Seen here with KNILM DC-2 PK-AFK before 1940, PH-ARE Emoe ended up with KNILM as PK-AFZ after the German invasion of Holland. It crash-landed in the area of Kuang Dalem (Ogan Ilir), some 80 km southwest of Palembang, Sumatra in late February 1942, allegedly carrying 'a large amount of gold'. Photo from: Wereldmuseum

KLM's DC-3 PH-ARB "Buizerd" escaped from Schiphol during the Nazi invasion of Holland in early May 1940. It was camouflaged and re-registered G-AGBD and flown by Dutch and BOAC crews on runs to neutral Lisbon and Shannon. Returned to KLM postwar as PH-TBD. To Skyways as G-AGBD in August 1946.
