Built in 1949 for United Air Lines then to BOAC in October 1954. On 31 July 1959 it was sold to Transocean Air Lines. Scrapped in March 1964 after being stripped of useful parts by Aero Spacelines (of Guppy fame).

Built for United Air Lines in 1949 and operated by BOAC from December 1954 to January 1960, after which it was scrapped. Here it has arrived on a charter from Sept-Îles, Québec carrying the Scottish Clans Group. (Thanks to Peter J. Marson for this information.)

G-ANUB (15969) Boeing B.377 Stratocruiser "Calypso" of British Overseas Airways Corporation - BOAC, at Prestwick on Monday 13 July 1959, about to start-up and depart on her regular flight across the North Atlantic. It later went on to serve briefly with West African Airways Corporation - WAAC, of Nigeria. I believe it was broken up at Stanstead.

"RMA Calypso" gets away from Ringway's Runway 24 on the LHR-MAN-Prestwick-NY Idlewild schedule. Ex UAL N31229. Served BOAC from September 1954 until being broken up at Stansted in January 1960.

The first of seven Stratocruisers delivered to UAL during late 1949 and early 1950, seen during a pre-handover photo sortie off the Washington coast. N31225 served UAL from 28 September 1949 until sale to BOAC as G-ANTX on 29 December 1954. Photo obtained from Boeing.
