About 145 of these army liaison and air ambulance short field aeroplanes were built by Icarus at their Zemun site, the location of Belgrade's international airport. Although no doubt inspired by the Fieseler Storch, it differed in having an all-metal cantilever wing and fuselage. A later development was the Kurir L with a Lycoming engine replacing the Walter Minor. First flown in 1955 and built from 1958-61, it was retired from Yugoslav military service in 1972. As of 2010, one Kurir was registered in the US, one in Croatia and this one in Slovenia.
