Taxiing to runway at Athens - Hellinikon

Nice scene on the domestic ramp. Delivered new to Olympic Airways as SX-BBH on 31 Mar 1970. To The Hellenic Air Force as 2137 in 1981. Later preserved at the Heritage Park and noted in Nov 2013.

Olympic Airways had ten YS-11 on the Greek register. Two were returned after a short lease period; two were lost in accidents, and the rest of six were transferred to the Greek Air Force during 1980/1981. SX-BBK flew for the Air Force as "2144" and was retired at Athens-Hellenikon around 1994.

SX-BBL was transferred to the Hellenic Air Force as "2145" and flown until 2000. Thereafter, it was stored, later dumped at Elefsis AB, last seen in 2018.

Leased from Mid Pacific Airlines Dec 84 and returned Sep 85, which coincides with the dates of operation for this short-lived airline based at FTW.

Delivered in May 1970 and withdrawn from use in 1980/1981. It then seems to have been operated by the Hellenic Air Force between 1981 and 1995, altough I'm not entirely sure. I don't know the location, but if you do, please let me know! Photo by unknown.
