NC14267 was owned by Antarctic explorer Lincoln Ellsworth. When an accident forned the expedition to dock in Hobat, Tasmania, the Australian Government bought the aircraft for use in future Australian expeditions, That did not occur and instead it was used for airways calibration as VH-ADR .
