Enjoying a rare open-air appearance while its static display accommodation, the American Air Museum at IWM Duxford, was undergoing refurbishment. Taken on strength by the USAAF in May 1945, but stored at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. Re-activated for the Korean War and issued in 1951 to 371st BS at Kadena AB, Okinawa. Flew 105 missions over Korea. By 1956 in use as a ground target for weapons testing at China Lake, CA. Donated to the UK's Imperial War Museum in 1979. Restored to airworthy condition for ferrying to Duxford as G-BHDK in 1980.

Delivered to the USAAF as 44-61669 in 1945. To the US Navy in 1956 and used as a range target at China Lake, CA. Registered as N3299F for a flight to Barstow, CA for Yesterday's Air Force in 1974. Flown to March AFB for the March Field Air Museum in 1981.

This B-29 was recovered from the Aberdeen Proving Ground by the Bradley Air Museum in 1973 and although damaged in the 1979 tornado, was restored between 1998 and 2003 (using the rear fuselage of 44-61739). Although the aircraft was too late to see war service, it was painted to represent 46-1566 (without serial) which had flown with the 468th BG/58th BW from Tinian.

Delivered to the USAAF as 44-61748 and stored at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in 1945. Returned to service in 1951. Retired at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in 1954 then to China Lake, CA for use as a range target in 1956. Acquired by the Imperial War Museum and registered as G-BHDK in 1979. Restored to airworthy condition, flown to the UK and made its last flight to Duxford for preservation in 1980. Moved inside the American Air Museum there when it opened in 1996.

Carries serial 44-62220 in very small print just below the tail plane. The significance of the number 4614 on the rudder is unclear. Its position and painting style does not match that of a serial or tail number, and 44-614 was an A-20K Havoc. This is one of the 31 aircraft on display at the Lackland parade field.

This was the first B-29 in Europe - as most viewers will know, the type was not used against the Germans. Coming straight from Goose Bay, it landed at Paris - Orly on 4 September 1945 to be put on display at an exhibition of US military power there, but oddly it is seen here at a similar show in Denmark which apparently opened only a few days later. This B-29, as 44-61975 was delivered too late to see action in WWII but was used post-war in various training, tarnsport and resupply roles. Its final flight was circa 1960 to the Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD but was fortunately never shot at. NEAM (then Bradley Air Museum) acquired the frame in 1973 but the rear fuselage was found to be extremely corroded so the salvage crew were instructed by the USAF to take the rear fuselage instead of 44-61739. Restoration started in 1998 and lasted five years. The scheme chosen for repaint was Jack's Hack, worn by Tinian combat veteran 44-61566 of the 468th BG of the 58th BW.

Incorrectly painted as 44-70064. This aircraft is a composite airframe, comprising the fuselage of 44-61535, the nose section of 44-70064 and the wings of 44-84084. It was soon repainted with the correct serial 44-61535.
