This assault glider seems to be serial number 43-39705, which was towed to Sainte-Mère-Église by a C-47 on 7 June 1944. The fabric appears to be ripped near the roundel. On the right is a Fairchild UC-61K, almost certainly 43-14996. Photo from: Vejle Stadsarkiv

This was the first B-29 in Europe - as most viewers will know, the type was not used against the Germans. Coming straight from Goose Bay, it landed at Paris - Orly on 4 September 1945 to be put on display at an exhibition of US military power there, but oddly it is seen here at a similar show in Denmark which apparently opened only a few days later. The same Superfortress was also on view at Amsterdam - Schiphol in late October 1945. Photo from: Vejle Stadsarkiv

Excellent photo of this PT-19 which must have been a rare bird in Europe in 1945. 42-2923 was damaged while still in use as a trainer at Garner Field, Texas, in late July 1944, but was subsequently assigned to the US embassy in London. It crashed on 29 June 1946 at Exeter, Devon. What is that thing between the cockpits - a camera mount? Photo from: Vejle Stadsarkiv
