The Balliol was a short lived trainer in the RAF(1954/56) This particular a/c arrived at Cranwell on 1st April 1954 but on the 14th July 1954 it suffered an engine failure and forced landed near Barkston Heath being scrapped shortly afterwards. It was based at Barkston Heath at the time(info' courtesy Aviation Safety Network(Wikibase) The RAFC badge is just visible on the fin. This photo 'was taken from an old "REAL" Company postcard which I purchased in the "camp" shop/post office circa 1963/64. Nice view of the College buildings in the background.

The Balliol advanced trainer had side-by-side seating plus a rear seat for a second student, but the latter was removed during the type's short RAF career. It looks rather fat from behind and very large standing next to a Chipmunk. This aircraft has been rebuilt around the cockpit section of WN149.
