Returning from 15 years trapped under the ice. Some further repairs carried out in CHC thence to the USA for more. Operated by VXE-6 on behalf of the National Science Foundation.

This C-130 served with VXE-6 based at Point Mugu, CA and was part of the support needed to maintain and resupply Operation Deep Freeze bases in the Antarctic. During a take-off run in Dec. 74 a JATO bottle came loose and damaged the starboard wing and stranding her on the ice for the next five years until repairs could be carried out. She continued to serve until retirement to AMARG during March 99 and is stored with the PCN/Inventory No. AACF0192.

After spending her life mapping and surveying the ice-flows of the Artic and Antartic, she is now retired to the warmth of the desert. Stored at AMARG since Jan 05 with the PCN/Inventory No. AACF0227.

The impressive Santa Catalina mountains form a stunning backdrop to many, many beautiful, old aeroplanes at the DM boneyard. This venerable old Herc has been stored at AMARG since Jan 05 with the PCN/Inventory No. AACF0227.

After 17 years buried in Antartica this aicraft was retrieved and restored to airwothiness. Now she sits in the desert heat hoping for a recall to service. Stored at AMARG since Oct. 99 with the PCN/Inventory No. ANCF0193.
