This 1947 Mallard had a turbine conversion by Frakes in 1972 before sold to West Coast Air Services in 1975. Merged into Air BC, this is another Mallard that left Canada for Australia in 1983. First with Air Whitsunday (VH-JAW), the aircraft is current with Paspaley Aviation, a division of the Paspaley Pearling Company, as VH-PPT at the time of uploading.

This used to be a fixture at LFPN when registered to Christian Dior and I saw it there as such in 1964. By this time it was based in Michigan, then converted to turbine in 1972. From 1980 to 1983 it flew with Air BC as C-GHUM and current in 2021 as VH-PPT.

Later became VH-PPT.

Registered in the US as N2419X in 1983 ahead of being ferried to Australia where it became VH-JAW.

1947-built Mallard owned by Marcel Boussac/Christian Dior visiting Ringway from its Toussus base. To G-73T in 1972. Current in 2013 as Turbo Mallard VH-PPT.

VH-JAW had landed at the Sydney Water Airport several miles away then taxied past the Opera House, the ferry terminus and under the Sydney Harbour Bridge to reach its destination at Pier One. The reason for its visit was a media event in connection with a Queensland island resort.
