Built as an FAW1, it made its first flight 06-Mar-1959 as Royal Navy XJ490. In Apr-1964 it went to Hawker Siddeley for conversion to FAW2. Due to corrosion the aircraft was withdrawn from use at Tengah in Singapore in Oct-1971. In 1973 it was donated to the Aeronautical Engineering Department of Singapore Polytechnic. By 1980 it had gone on display at Sentosa. From there it was brought to the Queensland Air Museum at Caloundra in Australia in March 1989.
