Ex N4700C, N2001, NC44783, 41-20133 (C-53). Originally converted with two Dart turboprops in 1969, registered as N4700C, and re-engined in 1977 (and re-registered as DC-3A-S1C3G N23SA) with three PT6A turboprops. Stored in 1980 and sold to Basler for rebuild as a Turbo-67, but not used and broken up by 2008. (A fuselage section was used in the rebuild of C-FMKB after it was severely damaged on 20 December 2007 in a take-off accident in Antarctica.)

Farnborough International Air Show 1978. A three engine turboprop DC-3 conversion. Only two were built and this aircraft spent a lot of time in the Arctic and Antarctic. Built as a C-53 for the USAAF as 41-20133 and taken on charge on 30 Mar 1942. To TWA as NC44783 on 30 May 1945. Later to N44783, N2001, N700CC and N4700C. Converted by Conroy to a DC-3TP turboprop on 13 May 1969. To N23SA in May 77 and converted to a Tri-Turbo 3. To Polair on 20 Aug 1979. Noted derelict opposite the Basler facility during EAA2023 at Oshkosh on 26 Jul 2023.

Owned by Basler Turbo Conversions and one of 5 fuselages stored in a field on the eastern side of I-41ALT across from the Basler hangars. At the time of writing the fuselages are still visible there on Google Maps.

Delivered to the USAAF as C-53 41-20133 in 1942. To TWA as NC44783 in 1945. Sold as N2001 in 1950, then to N700CC in 1962, N4700C in 1967 and N23SA in 1977. Converted to a Conroy Tri-Turbo Three. To Basler Turbo Conversions at Oshkosh, WI in 1994 and used for parts. Remains still there in 2010. The fictitious coastguard-like "Maritime Patrol And Rescue" markings are for promotional sales purposes only.

Never (ski-)jump to conclusions. The Conroy Tri Turbo Three was not using the Harrier ski-jump rig at the 1978 Farnborough Airshow. Jack Conroy's company had also converted the CL-44-O Skymonster, and he had worked for Aero Spacelines converting the Stratocruiser-based Guppy series in the 1960s. The coastguard-like "Maritime Patrol And Rescue" markings are bogus and for promotional sales purposes only.

Built for USAAF as C-53 41-20133. Converted to turboprop power with two RR Darts in May 1969. In 1977 it was fitted with three PT-6A's.

C-53 in World War II (41-20133), demobbed in May 1945 and was with TWA before the end of the month (NC44783). John Conroy acquired the Three in January 1968 (N4700C) and it was flying as the Conroy Turbo-Three with two Rolls Royce Dart turboprops in 1969. Fitted with three PT-6A-45 and re-registered N23SA, it became the Tri-Turbo-Three in 1977. Here transiting through Winnipeg, a fire in the cockpit while the aircraft was being worked on at Santa Barbara, CA ended its flying days.
