Ex-N7585A. Later EL-AKA, YN-CDE, C5-GOB, OM-WFA, 9Q-CJT, EL-WAM, 3D-WAM, 3D-ADK, 9XR-IS. Written off 4-Jul-2002 at Bangui. Ran out of fuel and crashed 4km short of the runway.

Back with Omega Air after returning from a lease with Guyana Airways, and prior to beginning a short two-month lease with Liberia World Airways. Years later it was written-off 4 Jul 2002 in an accident on approach to Bangui International under the ownership of New Gomair as 9XR-IS.

Originally N7585A with American Airlines and N703PC Ports of Call. Like most 707s it had quite a varied life operating with quite a number of airlines. It eventually wound up with New Gomair in 2002 as 9XR-IS and was w/o on approach to Bangui, Central African Republic, 4 Jul 2002. The aircraft had developed a technical problem and the crew elected to divert to Bangui. Apparently there may have been a miscalculation with the amount of fuel dumped and it ran out of fuel on final.

Delivered in June 1967 to American Airlines as N7585A. Seen at PMI for a pair of charters.

A later shot than my 1991 image in Air Gambia markings as EL-AKA. Starting out with American Airlines, this 707 had 11 different registrations over its lifetime before crashing at Bangui in 7.02

If you booked a holiday in Gambia back then, you stood a good chance of flying on this, although few would have realised it was the last 100 Srs 707 in commercial passenger service. Originally AA's N7585A and later went through identity crisis being registered YN-CDE, C5-GOB, HR-AMG, OM-WFA, 9Q-CJT, EL-WAM, 3D-ADK and 9XR-IS! Crashed on 4.7.02 at Bangui after running out of fuel while carrying a mixed load of passengers, garlic and onions
