She was involved in a mid-air collision with an SAAF Harvard near Durban in June 1962, but landed safely. Four years later, she joined the SAAF where she served as 6904 with 44 Sqd until the DC-4 fleet was retired in 1991. We arrived back at the aircraft well before our pre-agreed meeting time. It was cloudy during most of the airshow displays, but in the end of the afternoon, the sun finally showed its face. I think we walked around the aircraft freely for about 30-45 minutes, before we needed to get onboad for the flight back to O.R. Tambo.
