A squadron exchange with four RF-104Gs of the 3°Stormo with one of the RAF Laarbruch squadrons took place in October 1987. Here 3-16 is pictured in landing to the RAF Germany base. MM6540 was withdrawn from use by 1995 and was moved between several dump locations, first Trapani-Birgi, then at Amendola, again Trapani and then its fuselage was seen with the Autodemolizioni F. IIi Montalto S.n.c., Viale Regione Siciliana Sud Ovest 8121, next to the highway from Palermo to Messina, just outside Palermo
