As Air Canada retired their 39 strong 727-233 fleet during 1986 - 1993, FedEx acquired 34 of them for freighter conversion. Former C-GAAJ was also converted to a freighter, but went to First Air via Citicorp in July 1994. Withdrawn and stored at Trois-Rivières, OC in 2009, the aircraft was broken up by 2014.

While most of Air Canada's 727-223s were bought by Fed Ex, this one, delivered May 8, 1975, had a different fate. Withdrawn in September 1992, it was leased for several months to Aerolineas Argentinas (in full Air Canada colors) before being sold to Citicorp in October 1993. The aircraft was converted to a freighter and registered to Bradley Air Services (First Air) September 1994. Retired and stored at Trois Rivieres, Quebec in October 2009, the aircraft was broken up in 2014.
