This strategic Fort Saint John airport location was opened 1943, built by the US Army in conjunction with the Alaska Highway. At the cross roads for Canadian Pacific Airlines / CP Air flights in BC, Alberta and the Yukon, three 737s (from right to left - C-FCPB, C-GCPM and C-FCPE) are pictured in front of the airport's old control tower. Replaced by the newly built tower and now empty, it would later be pulled down and carted away.

CP Air's first 737, delivered October 21, 1968, is pictured after refurbishment and re-painting for PeoplExpress. Their first 737-200, PeoplExpress had 17 ex-Lufthansa 737-130s in their fleet and bought 5 of CP Air's early 737s. This one became N431PE.

Departing runway 36 at DCA, this shot was taken with a hand held telephoto lens from a canoe in the Potomac River. If you look closely at the number one engine you'll see a Lufthansa emblem on the inside cowling, obviously a replacement, as this aircraft was previously CF-CPB with CP Air.

CP Air's first 737 in service since 1968. This basic 737 was sold to PEOPLExpress in 1985 as N431PE and merged into Continental's fleet in 1987. Re-registered N12230 in 1990, Continental withdrew it from service December 1998. The 737 was broken up at Ardmore Municipal Airport, OK.
