No date written on the slide. It is probably 1988 or 1989, but confirmation is appreciated.

slide scan from the NK collection. - This Hercules from 1970 was last reported as 5X-UCG, flying freight services for Uganda Air Cargo at the age of 50 years.

Started as N7988S December 1970 with Lockheed, then N12ST 10 December 1970 with Saturn Airways, then same reg with Trans International Airlines later same month, then same reg with Transamerica Airlines October 1979, then same reg with Southern Air Transport 1 October 1987. Still with Southern Air Transport it was re-registered N912SJ September 1988, then became S9-BOQ with Transafrik International October 1999 then ZS-ORC with FlySafair December 2004. It went to Uganda Air Cargo August 2012 regd 5X-UCG and according to records, as at 17 March 2020, is still active.

Operated by Saturn from December 1970 for transporting Roll-Royce RB211 engines from the UK to the Lockheed plant at Palmdale/CA and here making a crew rest stop en route. Still current in 2020 as 5X-UCG with Uganda Air Cargo.

Hercules of Saturn were regular visitors at East Midlands Airport for a while as they were used for transporting RB 211 engines from Derby to the USA for Tristar production.

Looking immaculate after a heavy shower, in 12.70 this L.100 was delivered to Saturn, which merged with Trans International in 12.76. Registered N912SJ with Southern AT in early 1988 and leased by Transafrik as S9-BOQ in 9.99; bought by Safair 12.04 becoming ZS-ORC, then 5X-UCG with Uganda Air Cargo from 8.12
