Normally there would be beautiful mountains in the background of this photo. This was one of 233 helicopters and fixed wing aircraft fighting the worst fire season in British Columbia on record. A state of emergency lasted from July 7 until finally cancelled on September 15, 2017 as nearly 4,000 fire fighters battled new and merging fires.
