Surrendered to the Allies in May 1945 at Vaerlose, Denmark. Allocated the Air Ministry number AM72 and ferried to Farnborough on 13 October 1945. Stored for preservation from 28 December 1945 in various locations with occasional outings to air shows etc, allocated the maintenance serial 8483M. Displayed at Cosford from 1980 until 1985 when it was moved to St Athan, returning to Cosford on 20 December 1989. (Only one other known example of an Me.410 exists, stored awaiting restoration by the National Air & Space Museum in the USA.)

This rarity is seen in the tightly packed hangar at the RAF Museum Cosford Collection. Captured in the Second World War in Denmark it was flown and evaluated by the RAF

Aircraft captured at Værløse in Denmark in 1945 and taken to RAE Farnborough for testing as Air Ministry AM72. Since preserved and allocated 8483M. Now at Cosford.

'Hornisse' means 'Hornet' and looks somewhat like the Hornet derivative of the DH Mosquito.

This Hornet was built in 1943 at Augsburg and then captured in 1945 at Vaerlose, Denmark. After the war ended it was transferred to the UK for evaluation and eventually selected for preservation so fortunately is now on display at the RAF Museum Cosford.

The size of the bomb bay in the Me 410's belly surprised me. Yet the type was used extensively as a heavy fighter.
