Paraguay operated a total of fourteen T-23 Uirapurus, eight new build T-23s delivered in 1975 and six T-23As obtained from Brasil in 1986. One of a number of aircraft displayed inside the entrance to the base, 0012 was ex FAB0992. In recent years the collection of displayed airframes has increased and been officially recognised as the Museo de la Fuerza Aérea Paraguaya.

Fazenda Cabangu will certainly ring a bell with those truly interested in aviation history. At this farm, a former coffee plantation, young Alberto Santos Dumont grew up and started tinkering with coffee bean sorting machines. He went to Paris, France after that to become the first to fly around in steerable airships. He also made the first manned flight in Europe in a heavier than aircraft to take off under its own power in September 2006. By then, despite the much debated down-hill-catapulted first flights of the Wright brothers, they had actually flown many times already.

An impressive row of aircraft is preserved at the main gate of Ñu Guazú, one of them being T-23A 0012, the former Brazilian air force 0992.

Hidden in one of the hangars at Pirassununga, T-23 Uirapuru 1737 of the Brazilian air force could be found in storage.

The very last T-23 Uirapuru operated by the Bolivian air force was FAB-183, seen here at its homebase El Trompillo where it was flown by Grupo Aéreo de Entrenamiento 21, part of the Colegio Militar de Aviación (COLMILAV).

Preserved outside the airfield near the runway end is this T-23 Uirapuru, FAB-174.

This picture was salvaged from a discolored copy slide. I know nothing about this picture. Location is somewhere in Rio de Janeiro, but the exact spot is unknown. The occasion is probably an aviation fair as this aircraft was later transferred to the civil aircraft register as PP-HKJ. Any help on date and/or location is appreciated. Photo via G.Bouma
