This was the end of Flt Lt Roderick Carr's second attempt to fly a Horsley non-stop to India from the UK. The first in May 1927 ended in the Persian Gulf. Carr and the copilot - not the same man on both flights - survived the accidents. Only the engine from this Horsley was salvaged. Carr was a New Zealander. Photo from: Air Force Museum of New Zealand

During the delivery of both Dantorps to Denmark, the aircraft made a precautionary landing on the leg from Amsterdam to Copenhagen after one of them aircraft suffered engine trouble near the German islands. 202 tipped over on its nose during the landing and was damaged. You can see the ropes around the aft fuselage, in an attempt to put the aircraft back on its wheels. Photo from Collectie Ol Eel, werkgroep Luchtvaarthistorie

This was on March 1, 1933. Many thanks to Hendrik Cazemier for the information. This photo was made for a local contractor, who was seemingly one of the very few who owned a tractor at the time. The Dantorp was a three-seat variant of the Hawker Horsley. Two examples were delivered to the Danish navy and used extensively with wheels and floats. Torpedo bombing was found to be difficult and anyway, licenced construction of ten more aircraft here at the Orlogsværftet naval yard did not go ahead. The official service designation was HB.III. 202 is hoisted on board here by the fishery protection ship Ingolf. Photo from: National Museum of Denmark
