The fifth prototype of the final version of the Barracuda. Fitted with a RR Griffin engine because the Merlin-engined Barracuda was considered underpowered. With World War II over and the Royal Navy's needs changing, only 37 were built. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

The J.C.6 was developed to Army specification A.2/45 for an observation aircraft in competition with the Auster M/N. Neither aircraft was selected and the role was filled by a conventional Auster, the AOP6. The J.C.6 was Heston's last aircraft design. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

Part of the first batch of Argus to arrive in the UK. The Air Ministry was unaware that the British Purchasing Commission had already allocated a serial in the EV block and gave it a new serial HM181. It was decided it and the small number of other aircraft affected should keep their new serials. The rest of the batch received BPC-allocated EV serials. HM181 was delivered to the Air Transport Auxiliary. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

A news photo, an aviation photo and a superb photo of Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain (left from centre, holding his hat) returning from talks with Adolf Hitler in Bad Godesberg, near Bonn. Chamberlain's declaration of 'peace for our time' after flying home in the same BA Super Electra from the summit in Munich happened six days later on 30 September 1938.
