Till 2003, this 1989 built airframe flew for Condor and Lufthansa as D-ABWF. Sold to chinese carrier Yangtze River Express as B-5055 which operated it as freighter till the end of 2016. Next stop was with congolese airline "Serve Air" (registered 9Q-DHJ and 9S-AHJ) before Trigana Air Service bought it in late 2021. After a long career all over the world (refer to Photo ID 656384 for details), this 1986 built airframe ended up in Indonesia in late 2012. Since then, it's hauling cargo almost daily from the coastal city of Jayapura-Sentani to Wamena (Papua Province). It's first indonesian "stop" was Trigana Air (as PK-YSE) till April 2015, before taken over by Cardig Air which operated it for four years till December 2019. PK-BBC then changed ownership once again, currently flying for Jayawijaya under registration PK-JRB (2.). I was luckly to catch this airframe in all three indonesian airlines liveries.

Susi Air became a PC-6 operator In December 2007, with a total of 10 units delivered in the following years, the last in early 2014. Seven Susi Air Pilatus Porters remain in service and are still flying to remote airstrips in Papua as of December 2023. While two were lost during accidents, PK-BVY pictured here fell prey to OMF (Free Papua Movement) rebels on February 7, 2023. The pilot was taken hostage and the 2010 built airplane set on fire, and completely destroyed in due course.

In late 1980, five stretched C-130H-30's were delivered to the TNI-AU (A-1317 through A-1321). Then in May of 1982, the airframe pictured here became the TNI-AU's sixth C-130H-30. It too got serial A-1321(2.), while the original "A-1321" (c/n 4870) became A-1341 to serve with VIP squadron 17 at Halim. All six C-130H-30 remain in service at the time of upload, while two of the six "civilian" L-100-30's transferred from Merpati and Pelita to the TNI-AU in the late 1990's were lost in accidents. A-1321 is seen here in the two tone brown camo worn by most indonesian C-130's in the early 2000's.

Imported to Indonesia in December 2003, entering service with Sriwijaya Air as PK-CJJ, then with ExpressAir as PK-TXK as from September 2012. Became PK-JRA when joining Jayawijaya Dirgantara in May 2018. On May 18, 1958, american pilot Allen Lawerence Pope was shot down over Ambon while flying a covert CIA mission in a B-26 Invader. Sentenced to death by an indonesian court, he was pardoned in 1962, but not before Indonesia used Mr. Pope as a bargain in a pending arms deal. It is widely believed that the US "bought" Pope's freedom by delivering ten (!) new C-130B's to the AURI as from 1960. A-1303 (mfd Nov 1960) was among that batch and remains the oldest C-130 in service with the indonesian AF, still flying at the time of upload. C-130B's are not able to carry external wing fuel tanks.

In 2008, Wamena airport became the "Eldorado" for BAE-146 cargo airplanes, after Trigana and Merpati phased out their F-27's and before Boeing 737's were allowed to land at this remote airport. PK-VTM is the 9th production BAe146, built in 1983 and has previously been with the Government of Mali (TZ-ADT), Australia's National Jet Express (VH-NJZ) and in the Philippines as RP-C2999 (with Asian Spirit and later Zest Airways). Joint Manunggal Air in November 2008, withdrawn from use when Manunggal went out of business in 2015.

This 1986 built 737 has been flying for many different airlines and carried the following registrations: EC-EAK, N102GU, SP-LMB, TJ-CBF, N535GE, TF-SUN and TF-ELQ. It was converted to a freighter by IAI in Tel Aviv in 2004 and then sold to TNT Airways as OO-TNE. Indonesian cargo airlines Cardig Air took charge of it in early April 2012 and used it heavily to haul cargo between Jayapura-Sentani and Wamena in Papua. It was where it's fate was sealed after it touched down to early and damaged beyond repair on August 28, 2015, and then broken up.
