Slowly emerging from the early morning fog in Southern Poland and guarded by sheep, this Yak-40, or Jak-40 as spelling prescribes in Poland, is sitting here in the fields for a great many years already, since 2005.

Quietly spending its days among the sheep. Interestingly, on the intake of the centre engine, the remains of the badge of 19 LEH (Lotnicza Eskadra Holownicza, Aerial Towing Squadron) are starting to reappear on both sides. This was not visible in 2006, a year after the aircraft was put on display here. This Yak was a target tower in the 1980s.

This Yak-40 Salon 2nd Class was delivered in August 1973 and operated by 36 SPLT. Around 1979/1980 it was converted into a target towing aircraft by WZL-3 (repair plant) at Radom but later reconverted to Salon 2nd Class. It was retired sometime before early 2002, used for spares and put up for sale. It has been preserved at Brzeznica since April 2005.
