What a RARE catch!! I can't believe that we managed to see such a livery here in Ecuador and even more in Latacunga's Airport. Arriving as OMD277 all the way from Johannesburg with stopovers at Windhoek and Recife. This guy is the second B737NG to have maintenance and paint at DIAF's facilities, this too will be part of FlySafair fleet later. Ex Comair ZS-ZWG. Special thanks to Mathias Moya, DIAF's staff, pilots Steve and Bob who were very kind to us. This picture also goes to my good friend and spotter Stefano Rota on his birthday!!

Back in the day, the Ecuadorian Air Force used this plane for logistic and charity flights of the "Alas para la Alegría" (Wings for Happiness) program, for children with limited resources to fly for the first time. A really RARE sight at Latacunga. The first ever B738NG to have maintenance at the DIAF of LTX landing after a test flight to Guayaquil, just days before delivery to its new customer, FlySafair, just as I guessed it. After operating for Flair in Canada, it was ferried CYLS-KDTW-SELT from February 23rd to 24th, and the DIAF did an excellent job on this one. Soon we will have more B737NGs at Latacunga!! This one would likely become ZS-FGN. Ex Air China B-5510, CMB Financial Leasing EI-GGW, Primera Air Scandinavia OY-PSJ, CMB Financial Leasing 2-YPSJ, Flair Airlines C-FFLA and N105TS.

Months of waiting, but finally the new member of the FAE arrived at SELT as RCH413, after a long trip from the OGMA workshops in Alverca, Portugal (LPAR), my second homeland. It flew LPAR-LPLA-CYHZ-KILG-KNIP-KNQX-SELT on delivery from March 18th to 21st. And after two incredible low passes it landed carrying two engines to the L-100 (FAE-893) that should have maintenance soon and fly alongside this C-130H. Donated by the US Government, ex USAF 74-1689 and Afghanistan Air Force 1689.

This beautiful Gulfstream II was seized by the Ecuadorian Air Force long time ago and it started flying for the air force after several years stored at Latacunga. It was used as VIP aircraft for the General Commander of the Air Force. But, the right emergency exit window broke in mid air and it affected the engine too, even though we won't see this plane flying again for some time, luckily the engine and the rest of the parts had warranty so the plane is scheduled to have maintenance at any time. This beautiful Gulfstream II was seized by the Ecuadorian Air Force long time ago and it started flying for the air force after several years stored at Latacunga. It was used as VIP aircraft for the General Commander of the Air Force. But, the right emergency exit window broke in mid air and it affected the engine too, even though we won't see this plane flying again for some time, luckily the engine and the rest of the parts had warranty so the plane is scheduled to have maintenance at any time. In 2004 this plane was seized by the Ecuadorian government from a drug lord, and was to be used as a presidential plane. However, this plan didn't advance and the plane was stored in Latacunga for many years. It wore the registration FAE-050 but never flew for the air force. It is now preserved at the ITSA in Latacunga with its former registration, XB-ILD for training mechanics. Former registrations include XB-ILD, N280CH, N38TS, N209NC, N75TJ, N75QS, N75CS, N1393, N2125B, and G-AXDO.
