This MBB Bo 105CBS-4 was flown in Germany as D-HDXT then shipped to MBB Helicopter Corp in West Chester, PA and registered N725MB. It was transferred to MBB Canada in 1987 and upgraded to a Bo 105 S CDN-BS-4 prior to its sale to Sunrise Helicopters of Inuvik, NWT as C-FDXG in May 1989. In January 1991 it was sold to ALC Airlift (which operated STARS) and to Vancouver Helicopters in June 1993. Exported to the US in March 1994 as N725MB. To National Helicopter Services Ltd of Trinidad and Tobago as 9Y-THP in 1995.

This new MBB BK117 A-3, msn 7103, was photographed undergoing completion at the MBB Helicopter Canada facility in Fort Erie, Ontario on March 11, 1987. The helicopter was registered C-FIOM sometime in 1988 (after Imperial Oil retired their Grumman G-159, C-FIOM). Between June 1991 and May 1992, the BK117 was leased to the Canadian Armed Forces as 143106 to flight test systems developed for the new Shipborne Helicopter (NSA) by Honeywell Canada. In the Spring of 1992 it was leased to Heliflyg in Sweden as SE-JBK for HEMS trials before returning to Canada as C-FIOM to join STARS in June 1993.

A total of 58 Bo 105LS A-3 "Super Lifter" helicopters were produced, with about 49 assembled by MBB Helicopter Canada/Eurocopter Canada in Fort Erie, ON over a 22-year period. Bo 105LS A3, msn 2022, was seen fully assembled on Oct 13, 1988 not long before its first flight as C-GCJT. It was the third of five Bo 105LS built in Fort Erie for the Peruvian National Police. It was briefly registered N2145V before delivery as PNP-116. The Peruvian Air Force also flew six Bo 105LS A-3s. The last Bo 105LS, C-GKWW (msn 2058), was sold by Eurocopter Canada to Dam Helicopters in Castlegar, BC in 2009.

In 1984, MBB Helicopters Canada partnered with the Governments of Canada and Ontario and Fleet Aerospace to establish a helicopter factory and engineering center in Fort Erie, Ontario. In addition to assembling the "Hot and High" Bo 105LS for export, MCL was contracted to test fly the new P&WC PW200 turboshaft in a Bo 105LS. This prototype Bo 105B-1, C-FMCL, msn X01, powered by two PW205s made its first flight on Oct. 8, 1988, followed by a public unveiling and demo flight on Oct 13, 1988. MBB later selected the PW200 family to power the Bo 108 research aircraft and the EC135/H135 light twin.
