Inside the grounds of the Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology (HIET) in Salamangalam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu state, this Hindustan Aeronautics HT-2 basic trainer can be found. The HT-2 is a two-seat primary trainer designed and built in India. It was the first HAL company design to enter production in 1953 for the Indian Air Force and Navy, where it replaced the de Havilland Tiger Moth. 172 HT-2s were built and the type was retired in 1990.
