F-105F from the 466TFS arriving at March to pick up the pilot of a D model being delivered to the March Field Air Museum

466TFS F-105D "Diamondbacks" Thud sits in the static line-up at the 83' March show

The one and only F-105 to ever wear this desert camo scheme and appropriately named "Desert Fox"

This is the last flight and landing for this old Thud as it was being delivered to the March Field Air Museum. I was very lucky to have taken this shot as I had no idea that the aircraft was being delivered on this day. Stopping by the Museum before leaving for work, I was told that they were expecting the arrival of the F-105 that afternoon! Luckily, things fell in place and I was escorted to the runway and this is the only photographic evidence that exists of this event that I know of.

Currently on display at Century Circle, here she looks almost operational, although 6 years removed from service.

Awesome pic of three Thunderchiefs over the Great Salt Lake, including 62-4361, 62-4346 and 63-8309. All three have been kept for future generations. The forward fuselage of the latter was noted stored at Robins AFB in 2019, whereas 361 is preserved in Farmingdale and 346 in Dallas.

The fate of this Thunderchief is not known.
