XH560 was going to be retained for flying displays until it was realised that XH558 was a better proposition, with 600 hours of airframe life remaining. XH558 was therefore recovered from the Marham dump before it could come to any harm and XH560 was retired to Marham instead, in November 1984. It was later broken up there but the forward fuselage was saved. XH558 of course went on to be the last flying Vulcan, in civilian hands.
