During the Rhodesian Bush War, the Rhodesian Air Force carried no serials and in some cases no nationality markings on their aircraft. This 2 Sqd Vampire is caught at Durban with only the roundel as identification markings. The RhAF Vampires came from two sources; former RAF Vampires delivered to the Royall Rhodesian Air Force in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and former SAAF Vampires. The latter were for the most part returned to South Africa before Zimbabwe came to be in 1980. Photographer unknown

RRAF182 was delivered to the Royal Rhodesian Air Force's 3 Sqd in March 1960. The RRAF was the air force of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland (today's Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe). The Canadairs, as they were known locally, formed part or the Federation's commitment to the British forces in the Middle East. When the Federation was dissolved in 1963, the three Argonauts were sold to civilian operators. RRAF182 returned to the UK as G-ALHI with Air Links.

Photographer unknown

Although there is no serial visible on this photo, this should be R7134, which later received serial 7134 in the Zimbabwe air force. It's former RAF aircraft KJ998.
