This German seaplane was stationed in Copenhagen during World War II. After the liberation, on 1 July 1945, a large British air show was organized off the coast of Kastrup Airport where 3 Bv 138s were sunk by Hawker Typhoon fighters. In 1994 one was found during construction of Øresund bridge. After cleaning and preservation, the aircraft was put on display in June 2001.

Six early BV 138 'Flying Clog' flying boats were used as transport aircraft during the German invasion of Norway. This aircraft is seen landing troops at Sundsbukta near Hemnesberget, It was sunk here by a British destroyer according to the photographer, which would make it NG-UC, not NG-UD which was shot down nearby in the Ranfjord. The situation was precarious for the German invaders of Narvik in April and May 1940 and a squadron of large seaplanes was formed to fly in supplies and reinforcements. From 10 May the first three BV 138A-1 production aircraft were involved in an operation in the Ranfjord area, landing troops near Hemnesberget. Two of them were lost. This should be NG-UC as it was sunk here at Sundsbukta according to the German photographer. Photo by: Karl Marth / Arkiv i Nordland
