The RAAF took delivery of ten A-25As before cancelling an order for 140 more having deciding dive bombing was outmoded. A69-29 was one of those affected by the cancellation and was never delivered to Australia. It was eventually handed to the US Marines . Only one RAAF A-25 entered service and that was for testing. The aircraft code cannot be read, but the red chevron on the top wing indicates the first three-aircraft section of VS-6 and the colouring of the lower half of the cowling should indicate the leader's second wingman, 6-S-3. BuNo 0517 was lost a month later when its flotation bags inflated during a flight, causing the crew to bail out off Oahu on 31 October 1940. The unit badge confirms the unit to be VS-6, as does the blue tail which identified the USS Enterprise carrier air wing from 1937. This was one of 50 SBC-4s urgently sold to France in June 1940. 44 of the Helldivers were loaded on the French aircraft carrier Bearn in Halifax, having been pulled across the Canadian border at Haulton, Maine to comply with the US Neutrality Act.
