'Rehearsal of the Royal Air Force Display at Hendon.' This early Heyford served with No 99 Squadron, appropriately, at Upper Heyford. K3497 crashed one week later on 6 July 1934, hitting a hedge when returning to base after a night exercise. Sgt Plt George Robinson lost his life. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair. Originally built as a Heyford II. The Heyford was already obsolete when built, but was still in use in secondary roles during the first years of WW2. This picture could well be taken at the Handley Page factory at Radlett. Photo via RAF Scampton Heritage Center
