This aircraft was built in 1976 and initially registered in the Soviet Union as CCCP-44396, becoming UN-44396 following independence of Kazakhstan. It was operated by the Aeroflot Flight Training School at Aktubinsk. Exported to Australia and restored, it became VH-KGU on 2 September 2005 and currently resides at Kingaroy.
