The ultimate -1 variant that saw many improvements, including the addition of a 160 gal. jettisonable centreline tank and the carrying of two 1,000lb bombs on stub-wing pylons. Goodyear was responsible for many modifications. The FAA flew a substantial number, and those with the British Pacific Fleet removed the red meatball and added bars to the roundel. FAA Corsairs were continuously in action in the final months of the war against Japanese airfields, island installations, ships and strikes on Japan.
